Dave Smith

Chairman

David is the Director of Global Software Engagement for Diebold Nixdorf, based in the UK and working globally. David rejoined Diebold Nixdorf in August 2014 from HP where he led the solution strategy in their nascent Cards & Payments practice. David currently supports sales and customer engagements covering the full Banking software product portfolio and managed service offerings, working across the sector providing industry, product and domain consultancy, early solution design, market expansion planning, sustainable operating models, and driving ‘Go to Market’ initiatives

Richard Gorman

Treasurer

Richard has over 25 years of experience in the payments industry, with roles including Systems Programmer, Department Leader, and Architect at LINK and Vocalink, primarily in the ATM and Cards sector originally focused on BASE24. He is currently a Product Architect at Vocalink. Richard has been involved with industry user groups since 2004 originally through EBUG and has held the roles of PKF treasurer since 2014.

Anders Thomson

Committee Member

With over 25 years of experience in the self-service industry, Anders Thompson has built a distinguished career leading innovation and transformation across major financial institutions. Currently serving as Head of Self-Service Network Development & Test at Barclays UK, Anders brings deep expertise in ATM infrastructure, card schemes, and large-scale deployment strategies.

 Prior to joining Barclays in 2010, Anders held key roles at HSBC, where he contributed to foundational advancements in self-service technologies including Cash and Cheque deposit devices. His extensive background includes hands-on leadership in hardware and software rollouts, working closely with industry leaders such as Diebold Nixdorf, Cennox, and NCR.

 A former representative on the LINK Technical Steering Group (TSG), Anders has a comprehensive understanding of all major card schemes and regulatory frameworks. His technical foundation is rooted in over 20 years’ experience of Base24 classic and over a decade of live support for Base24, where he played a critical role in maintaining and evolving transaction processing systems.

Martin Travers

Committee Member

Having started his IT career  in 1986, Martin is fast approaching 40 years active service in the payments industry.  Martin has fulfilled a variety of roles: programmer, analyst, technical support, team leader and project manager.

Martin spent 20 years in the Lloyds Bank IT Department, working in the ATM, Card and BASE24 teams.

Subsequently, he joined Ascert, a leading supplier of testing solutions to the payment industry since 1992.

Martin’s current role at Ascert is Customer Relationship Manager.  

Martin has been involved in industry user groups since 1997 when he joined EBUG. Martin held the position of EBUG chairman from 2001 to 2004 and has been a PKF committee member since its inception in 2014.

Greg Horne

Committee Member

Greg is a 30-year veteran of the payments recruitment industry, having started when Cobol was the programming language of the moment, Y2K threatened to drop planes out of the sky and IR35 wasn’t even a thing.

 His experience spans the entire spectrum of FinTech and PayTech. Greg has worked with clients in the UK, Europe, Middle East, USA and Australia including:

 American Express, Barclays, Lloyds, Worldpay, Nationwide, Diebold Nixdorf, Cennox, Hyosung TNS, Visa, Global Payments, HSBC, Bank of England, ECB, NCR Atleos, Planet, ACI Worldwide, Transaction Network Services, First Data (Fiserv), GreenDot Corp, Cognizant, TCS, Arab National Bank, Al Inma Bank, Benefit Bahrain etc 

He is also the owner of the Linkedin user group, Base24 Classic & Base24-EPS Forum, with almost 4,000 members globally.

Andrew Pickles

Committee Member

Andrew is an experienced, creative payments resource with 25 years in the industry. Presently running Account Management and Sales for Europe for Integrated Research. Prior to IR Andy was involved in several start-ups and new companies in the Asia Pacific region including financial inclusion, international remittance and card management. Prior to that he worked for ACI across EMEA and APAC and Link (now MasterCard).

John Rozek

Committee Member

John is a founding director of Polar Moment, with over 20 years of expertise in the payments industry. He has led innovative solutions for major clients like PayPal, Marks & Spencer, and Worldpay.

Anton Godfrey

Committee Member

Anton started his IT career in 1986 working in cryptography for the Ministry of Defence before joining Midland Bank/HSBC and spending the next 30 years working on all aspects of the banks Base24 ATM/POS systems.

Anton then joined Renovite as Product Manager for their cloud native ATM, Switch and HSM products which were licensed to multiple customers before Renovite was acquired by JPMC.

Anton is currently the Global Solutions Architect for Hyosung UK and has been actively involved in EBUG/PKF for over 10 years.

Jim Tomaney

Operations Director

Jim has spent nearly 40 years in the payments technology industry. Starting as an engineer on BASE24, his later experience covered engineering, sales, marketing and operations  for a variety of payments systems operators and technology suppliers.
